I hope this is a very short entry, with few additions. But, no matter how hard an author and the rest of the publishing team, from copy editor to proofreader, works, there always seems to be a mistake or two in cookbooks. One of these days, I am going to do a publishing schedule so the average person can see how many professionals read a manuscript before it gets printed--and these aggravating mistakes still happen! See below for the boo-boos.
COFFEE AND CAKE, Lemon Meringue Cupcakes: In the filling, simmer for 30 seconds, not 30 minutes.

Mocha Nut Crinkles from Christmas 101: These cookies came out delicious--but I just guessed when to add the baking chocolate. The book overall and this recipe specifically otherwise have very clear instuctions. Although there are clear directions for melting the chocolate, the direction for when to add the chocolate must have been deleted in error.
Thank you for taking the initiative for figuring out when to add the chocolate. You must have an old edition, as it was fixed in the reprints of the book. You add it after creaming the butter and sugar. You reminded me how much I like these cookies, and I think I'll add them to my cookie list this year.
Errata are the "Nightmare" of every cookbook author. Thank you so much for this posting. What a great idea! It will help readers understand how these mistakes can happen. You are right about the many editing hands that pass over a manuscript and yet there are mistakes. Will have to make your lemon meringue beauties!
